Oakland Museum of California Landscape & Garden Concept Design
Hood Design proposes to “break the box” and activate the museum’s edges and urban connections. The OMCA’s garden design, and with it the museum’s mission of creating a free public space, lost legibility during its construction. Five focus groups determined physically + economically feasible goals that will reinvigorate the garden with this intent: to represent the culture of its city and state. The design implementation is flexible and phased, in-tended to respond to a range of possible fundraising strategies.
