Drawing inspiration from The Continuous Miner series, we revisited one of our earlier work proposals, 'The Hill District: Village in the Woods' (2009–2010). This project harnesses the unique ecological, cultural, and industrial landscape of the Hill District of Pittsburgh to counteract historical disinvestment and disenfranchisement within the neighborhood. The initiative involves tracing and reconfiguring the 15-foot thick open coal 'seam' around the Hill's edge, engaging with both its legacy and potential.
