Located at the iconic crossroads of Trade and Tryon, McColl Park is a vibrant public space in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. Designed as a place for gathering, reflection, and celebration, the park honors the city’s layered history and now stands as a civic landmark, offering a verdant respite amid the surrounding buildings and skyline. It also pays tribute to Hugh McColl, the visionary leader whose contributions to banking and civic development helped transform Charlotte into a major financial and cultural center.

At its center is The Nest, a hanging sculpture inspired by Charlotte’s nickname—the “Hornet’s Nest”—and the idea of a nest as a collective structure built from diverse, interwoven parts. The Nest reflects the city’s resilience, unity, and evolution, serving as both a focal point and an invitation to connect. Below The Nest is a mirror water feature adding a moment of stillness, encouraging reflection and offering a dynamic play of light and perspective within the park.
